1. How long does the procedure take?

Various examination take variable time to perform after which the radiologist does the interpretation, which he/she drafts for typing.
Some examinations, which normally take short time, may end up being difficult to perform thus taking longer than expected.
The receptionists in consultation with Doctor on duty will be willing to advise you on time.

2. Who is going to work on me, is it a male doctor or female?

We have female and male doctors on duty but some days may have only female or male doctors. The receptionists are always aware of the duty roster and can advise you on this

3. What are the side effects, when some one goes for either x-ray, ultrasound scan or CT scan?

Ultrasound scan has no known side effects so far and the theoretically said side effects would not occur within the range of examinations we perform at the clinic.
X-rays have an effect on the body but the doze from the range of examinations done at the clinic is far low to cause any body harm. Nevertheless, each examination has to be clinically justified thus the need for a request form.

4. Do you give treatment after doing the examination?

The patients we handle are normally referred thus by other clinicians
After performing the required investigations/tests, results are compiled and patients are referred back to their clinicians for treatment.

5. Do you admit?

We do not admit patients at the clinic.

6. Do you give results immediately after the examination or someone needs to come back the following day?

Most results can be compiled and given to the patient immediately.
In case of anticipated delays the patient and referring clinicians are informed and reasons for the delay explained. On the whole, the principle of same day provision of results is pursued.

7. Why do I have to fill my bladder when I am going for ultrasound scan?

Sometime a full bladder is a necessity especially when the pelvic organs are to be assessed. Urinary bladder itself cannot be assessed with ultrasound when collapsed/empty. It also helps to displace bowel loops with gas which would obscure pelvic organs.

8. Why do you need a request or referral form?

Yes, we do require that patients come with referral/requisition forms. This is to ensure that the patient has been seen and examined by a competent clinician and that the examination is justified. We do accept a few self referrals e.g. trauma cases and obstetric scans.
